About Us

Swim with Sunée was started by Sunée McKelvey and parents IP and Miemie Venter on April 1st, 2015. The Venter clan has been living on the Eversdal premises in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs since 1989.

After her studies, Sunée left for England where she discovered the wonderful world of baby swimming. She particularly noted the specific methods used to make babies water-safe from an early age. Her passion for people, especially babies and young kids inspired her to study and test as many different techniques as possible.

Sunée completed all her swimming training for babies and young children while in the United Kingdom. Upon her return, she started Swim with Sunée. She has since attended numerous workshops on special needs children and discovered the incredible advantages of water especially holds for this group. She has enormous empathy and a heart for kids with special challenges, especially as the Venter family adopted a handicapped son, Dean at age of five, thirty years ago.

Her two daughters’ educational journeys led Sunée back to England in 2021. She has, however, thoroughly instilled her values and methods in the local team and under her mentorship, they equally share Sunée’s passion for both the kids and the swimming school.

In England, Sunée’s new school of swimming, SWEM is situated on Muswell Hill, on the outskirts of London.
